In that case, use UE4, it comes with full source code for the whole engine, and lots and lots of small game demos that also come with the source code, there is a tower defense game, a shooter complete with multiplayer, a flappy bird clone made without coding, only with the visual script system they have(blueprints) and a lot more. So I was hoping that maybe eventually I could go with CryEngine 3.x and build something in the spirit of Crysis 3, just in my own universe.Īnyhow, I am just poking around for options for the future projects. I won’t be able to do that with UE4/Unity. At least I can make my game in the spirit of Doom 3, just slightly modified and improved. There are a few folks familiar with script, but when it comes to expanding core gameplay of Doom 3 via C++ code, it’s been a disaster. Those engines will sure help me get it shaped quicker on assets part, but not on gameplay part.Ĭurrently I am using modified Doom 3 BFG engine (Storm Engine 2), and it’s been a royal pita finding programmers. Which means if I am not the one, and I don’t have anyone to help me, neither UE4, no Unity will help me make and release the game. Not just good and savvy programmers, any kind of programmers. In the game industry 90% of start up projects fail due to lack of programmers. CryEngine comes with Crysis 3 game code to my knowledge (or was it CryEngine 2 SDK ? ). I prefer not to use these engines as they come with no game code. If you want a quality engine that cares at least a bit about indies, use UE4, Unity, or project anarchy
